Dr. Sam Sheppard and Marilyn Reese Sheppard
Marilyn Reese Sheppard was four months pregnant when she was murdered on July 4, 1954. The cause of death: twenty-seven blows to the head with a heavy instrument. Her husband Dr. Sam Sheppard was convicted of her murder in 1954 and then acquitted during a second trial in 1966. For many: Dr. Sam Sheppard was the murderer.
In the year 1000, Samuel Reese Sheppard, the couple's son filed a civil lawsuit against the state of Ohio for wrongful imprisonment seeking millions of dollars in damages and attempting to prove that his father was innocent.
Was Dr. Sheppard the killer? Was the killer a bushy-haired intruder" as claimed by Dr Sheppard? or could have been Richard Eberling, the window washer who worked for the family?
